In my last year of college (CSUMB), author Michael Parenti delivered a lecture on Iraq, that eventually led into his pre-packaged diatribe detailing the evils of capitalism. In the post-lecture questions phase, no one challenged him on his views, but I dared bring up the question as to whether he thought that the human spirit might in some way be able to change capitalism from what it is to something a bit more benevolent to both the earth and mankind. He poo-pood the idea outright and shooed me out of the forum. I still believe there is a way. What are your thoughts?
