Hey group,
A bit of shameless back patting about to happen...

3 years ago I chose to take a stand and be responsible for creating a strong solution to climate change that anyone could follow. Also to demystify the web of green options each person has in front of them.

It became a software application that took every known source on going green I could find and summarize it into one place. During this research I also did the math needed, so every action has a specific savings in $ and CO2.
Knowing that the average person does not have the same amount of time to educate themselves...I created an online assessment that would give the program clarity into each persons unique options and give a day by day coaching plan on how to green their lifestyle.
No matter where you are starting from...skinny or huge footprint.
I have just finished and launched yesterday.
I am going to market the complete program for $29 and give $15 of that to a non-profit also needing money to further their own Global Warming solutions. It took some time to build those partnerships but they are good and solid programs.
Here is a bit more information and the URL
Please support this effort and spread it out to your connections( if you find it useful)
This has been a labor of love and I hope you find it useful.

PS. I have a certain number of "free" memberships I can give if you need it just email me through the website or here on Tribe.
PPS . WE DO NOT SELL ANY PRODUCTS

Going Green Today is an in-depth online program that looks at your lifestyle and creates simple green living options just for you. We give you an easy-to-follow action plan that walks you through reducing your carbon footprint by at least 35% and helping you to save $2000 this year.

The first is hyperlocavore.com. Hyperlocavore is a yardsharing community - built to support people in the practice of creating 'yardsharing' arrangements to grow food together.

Many people want to grow food but they lack one or two of these four things:
-time
-space
-skills
- physical strength

Forming a yardsharing group with your friends, neighbors, family or with your religious communities is easy - and free! You can set up a 'seeking yardshare' group for your area (like Chicago, South Side) or a private group for your own yardshare "Grandma's Backyard Garden"

CSAs are filling up fast. Community gardens have waiting lists. Food is getting more and more expensive.
Find some people and start growing together!

The other project we've started is The Great Let's Get Growing Seed Share.
We are asking experienced gardeners to become 'seed angels,' to adopt a newbie gardener and send them some garden seeds! I have sent four newbie gardeners enough seed that each of them will have huge beautiful edible gardens this summer. It's easy - it cost me less than 4 dollars to get four gardens going!

If you are an experienced gardener we need you to become a seed angel!
If you are a newbie food grower - sign up!

It's FREE
http://hyperlocavore.wordpress.com/2009/03/05/the-great-lets-get-growing-seed-share/

If you think these are good ideas please help us get the word out to your communities! Blog it, tweet it, share it!

EXTRA-DIMENSIONAL POWER?

GRAHAM TOQUER

ISSUE 75, 2007 • I n f i n i t e E n e r g y

In 1997, I published an article in this magazine entitled "Neutrino Power." I had some ideas about where the energy of "cold fusion" was really coming from, based on the current theories of physics of the time. Since then the physicists have rethought their theories, which has caused me to rethink mine. But I believe that my basic premise is still valid, and perhaps looks better than ever.

Exactly what Fleischmann and Pons really discovered has been a matter of debate from the onset. Lack of radioactivity and fusion products seems to indicate that it is not the kind of fusion that goes on inside the sun. One theory was that compressing the electron orbit of a hydrogen atom forced that electron down into a lower electron shell, releasing a photon in the process. Chemists liked the theory, but physicists hated it and still do. Nonetheless, the "hydrino" theory has not gone away. At one time BlackLight Power claimed that they would soon market a heat source for buildings based on this theory. I’m still waiting to hear more about that. Anyway, the concept got me thinking. If the hydrino theory was wrong, and it wasn’t nuclear fusion, what was happening inside those bars of palladium?

Imagine a sackful of marbles dumped into a tray—a twodimensional surface. Given room, they will settle down into one single layer of marbles, all having the same coordinate in the up/down dimension. But if you rattle the tray around to slam them together, some of them will momentarily pop up on top of the rest, moving laterally into an alternate dimension. I think that’s what the electrons in the hydrogen atoms in cold fusion experiments are doing.

From the 1997 article:

. . .One actively pursued theory has it that hydrogen passing through the palladium gets so crowded that its electron shell collapses to a previously unsuspected lower level and yields photons. A lot of chemists like the idea, but physicists do not. Perhaps my theory will be more to their liking: I believe that the electron shell is being squeezed into a higher dimension.

Some of the latest theories about the evolution of the universe call for eleven to sixteen dimensions at the time of the big bang. The three spatial dimensions— plus one of time—that we now use are all that remains of a greater universe. At one time, all the dimensions were open, and all the atomic forces were unified.

Then, as the universe cooled, the four lower dimensions drew apart from the rest. The remaining spatial dimensions collapsed to infinitesimal size shortly after the Big Bang. Particles that once existed in stable form, such as the muon and tauon, were no longer able to exist because the energy level of the universe was too low. Now they exist only as infinitesimally short-lived virtual particles, and brief tracks in cloud chambers.

It is my belief that the neutrino did not descend fully into three dimensional space/time with the other remaining particles. The neutrino is so small— perhaps dimension-less—that it can fit in the tiny amount of remaining space in a higher dimension. That would explain why it is so hard to detect, and almost impossible to stop. But there are incredible numbers of them, with energy. If only they could be accessed.

All particles behave both as particles and waves. In photons, this split personality is so profound that two separate experiments can prove that photons are particles and waves, respectively, without disproving one another. Next to photons, electrons are the next most wave-like of the particles. Their "orbit" around a nucleus is a fixed multiple of their "matter wave" length. The wave length of photons they can emit is also a function of this orbit. (Hence the "hydrogen emission" wave length, 21 centimeters. . .)

So when a hydrogen atom gets so compressed that its sole electron can not orbit its nucleus in a precise multiple of its wave length, something has to give. I believe that the electron slides some portion of its matter wave length into [a higher dimension].

And, I theorized, they interacted with neutrinos, obtaining energy. I assumed neutrinos because the theories of the day called for extra dimensions of minuscule size. Neutrinos were thought to be dimension-less, so they were the only particles likely to fit, and it would explain why they were so hard to detect and stop. Also, my theory seemed to explain the "solar neutrino problem"—the fact that the sun apparently does not emit enough electron neutrinos. I believed that "toquered" hydrogen atoms with compressed electron shells in the sun’s outer core strained them out. Other theories have since explained the solar neutrino problem by other means, much to my dismay.

I named this phenomenon the "Toquer effect." I decided to cede it to the public domain. Since then, physicists trying to explain the formation and behavior of the universe have evolved "M-Theory," championed by Stephen Hawking and Lisa Randall among others. M-theory calls for a large extra dimension to explain why gravity behaves in the way that it does. There may even be another entire universe at the other end of the "M" dimension.

Hawking and Randall do not seem to feel that the "M" dimension contains matter or energy. They do believe, however, that our universe loses gravity waves into the M-dimension, and possibly "toquered" electrons are interacting with them. It’s even possible that they are indeed catching neutrinos. However, even if the M-dimension was originally devoid of matter and energy, I believe that this may no longer be true, due to the Toquer effect.

Every star has a core where fusion reactions are taking place, surrounded by a shell of mostly hydrogen and helium which is hot and highly compressed—toquered. I believe that those hydrogen electrons are popping in and out of the "M" dimension, and while they are there they can emit photons on the 21 centimeter wavelength, the hydrogen emission frequency. They can also catch them from M-space again, so that the temperature of M-space is in a state of equilibrium. When the universe was young, M-space was filling up with energy, draining it from all the stars in the universe until it reached that equilibrium. And then. . .

From the 1997 article

The temperature of [M-space] should be the average temperature of the inner hydrogen shells of the stars, between the hottest point at which hydrogen can exist as atoms rather than plasma, and the outermost point at which the Toquer effect can take place. Hotter stars should lose energy into M-Space. Cooler stars should gain energy from it. If we draw it down, every star in the universe should replace it. The energy can not be exhausted as long as the stars shine. . . .

If [M-space] was originally cold and empty, stars would have lost a lot of energy into it at first. They would have burned their fuel a lot faster to maintain equilibrium, and aged faster. Then, when the temperature of [M-Space] reached the average stellar core temperature, the loss would have stopped. Stars that were running a little cooler than average could gain energy. Stars that ran hot could lose it, creating a leveling effect. (This energy drain may account for much of the lost mass of the Universe.)

Quite possibly, this moment of equilibrium was reached very abruptly through the universe. . .If so, suddenly every star in the cosmos was over-fueled for its spectral class. How much so is a function of the rate at which a star can gain energy from or lose energy to [M-SPace.]

The wildest possibility is that many of the stars in the universe exploded, popping off like firecrackers in an incredibly short period of time by cosmic standards. The blasts would have resembled supernovas, although the processes are different. And that would have created the heavy elements that compose this planet we inhabit, as supernovas would have done. However, they would have done so much earlier in the life of the universe, before great numbers of supernovas would have evolved.

For the rest, normal stars would have expanded into giants, and dwarfs flared up into viable stars. It could have been the most abrupt cosmic event since the big bang. It might have wiped out every sapient race in the universe, if there were any in a mostlyhydrogen cosmos. It may have vaporized the gas giant planets of the era, which is why we are now seeing mostly nebular material surrounding other stars. It may even have left microwave echoes as the Big Bang is thought to have done.

I might also mention a curious thing about the planet Jupiter: It emits more thermal energy into space than it receives from the sun. My theories might explain that.

So, how to prove or disprove this theory? I would start by checking cold fusion experiments for EMF emissions on the 21 centimeter wavelength. These may not be so obvious, since the classic Fleischmann and Pons experiment was immersed in water. The hydrogen in the water would have soaked up any such emissions. The same is true of the acetone in the "sonofusion" experiments. But if any such EMF turns up, that raises possibilities.

From the 1997 article:

At the laboratory of Michael C.H. McKubre, SRI International, a sealed cell exploded and killed a worker. I look upon [this] phenomena as [a] feedback situation. . .With time, statistical chance may create a situation where enough hydrogen atoms are Toquering hydrogen emission quanta in unison to generate an EMF signal, which causes more atoms to resonate in harmony, and increase the signal strength. . .In the case of the explosion, I suspect that the working element managed to generate a weak 21 centimeter signal, which reflected off of some nearby metal surface, and re-excited the working element, causing the emission of another, stronger wave. This would have resulted in very rapid positive feedback until the working element vaporized and blew up.

. . .The idea is to make all the electrons deliver their photons in unison, so that we get radio frequency energy instead of mere heat. . .Perhaps the working element can be stimulated with a radio wave or an oscillating magnetic field on the appropriate frequency [to create a resonance].

The great thing about getting energy as EMF rather than heat is that a simple antenna grid will turn it directly into electricity. That will have a lot more commercial appeal that something that only produces low levels of thermal energy. The sooner we can start producing some alternative to fossil fuels, the better.

Recent wisdom has it that global warming is happening faster than we thought, and consequences may be worse than we thought. Now they’re talking about an ice-free Arctic Ocean before the end of the century. There appear to be huge deposits of methane trapped in ice crystals in the ocean floor and the tundra. It’s a far more effective greenhouse gas than CO2, and it’s waiting to be thawed. Much more of this, and we’ll have people scuba-diving in the New York subway system.

And if that isn’t enough, there is talk that global warming could change the balance between oxygen-breathing bacteria and sulfur-eating bacteria in the oceans and get them spewing out sulphur dioxide. This may have contributed to several of this planet’s great extinctions. Let’s hope we can get away from our coal-and-oil addiction before we drive ourselves into extinction.

As before, I hereby cede my theories to the public domain.
I just came across this article today:
I'm quoting two key bits from this article that I'm responding to and would like to know who and why anyone either supports what this article says or thinks it as much bollocks as I do.

"When acidification, fertilizer use, biodiversity loss and toxicity of agricultural pesticides are taken into account, the overall environmental impacts of ethanol and biodiesel can very easily exceed those of petrol and mineral diesel," it added.

"The OECD therefore called on governments to cut their subsidies for the sector and instead encourage research into technologies that would avoid competing for land use with food production."

...Acidification, fertilizer use, biodiversity loss, pesticides, etc. are all happening ANYWAY in conventional agriculture.

Not only does HALF of US food go to waste per year* but the US government actually PAYS farmers NOT TO FARM** to control market prices. Meanwhile, millions of people continue to starve in other countries.

* http://foodproductiondaily.com/news/ng.asp?id=56340&n=dh330&c=%23emailcode, http://www.metro-region.org/article.cfm?articleid=5563

** "the (US) government pays farmers several billion dollars not to farm (Ervin, 1992)." http://dieoff.org/page55.htm

We have more than enough land to produce our food AND our fuel, and this in no way adds to the environmental impact currently made by our agricultural practices.

The given environmental benefits of biofuels aside, we would also be saving *BILLIONS* of dollars by not needing to deploy our military across the globe to secure petroleum resources AND we'd be saving hundreds of thousands of lives lost to war on BOTH sides, which is PRICELESS.

There's no reason we have to choose between fuel and food on our abundant land, and there is simply NO WAY to argue the benefits of petrofuels over biofuels!

End of Story.

the original article is followed by the Mother Earth Upgrade response:

by ROBERT W. MARSHALL

With the price of gasoline already out of sight, just about everyone is scrambling for a way to squeeze the last possible drop of energy from each precious gallon. However, David Arthurs-of Springdale, Arkan sas-probably couldn't care less ... because he has designed and built a car that can travel 75 miles or more on just four quarts of the expensive liquid!

What's his secret? Well, Dave's Opel CT is a hybrid electric vehicle. That is, the car is driven by an electric motor . . . but that powerplant's "juice" is generated with the help of an ordinary, fuel-stingy lawn-mower engine! Now the fact that the system works isn't really surprising. What's amazing is that the crossbreed hookup performs so well! According to David, the Opel has not only a virtually unlimited range (when driven prudently), but also a top speed of 90 miles per hour . . . and emits a minimum of pollutants as it tools along the highway. Better yet, the car can-if need be-run on its batteries alone for short in-town hops . . . and will never be "stranded" as long as there's fuel in the "on board" generator!
WORLD WAR II TECHNOLOGY

Mr. Arthurs is the first to admit that there's nothing "new" to the system he's developed . . . in fact, all the technology incorporated into his design has been available for about 35 years, just waiting for someone to put two and two together and make the whole thing work. "I began researching the idea for a hybrid electric auto about a year ago. There wasn't much information to be found on the subject, so I designed a system from scratch. In about a month's evening-and-weekend time, I had the car finished and running."

Surprisingly enough, the project didn't cost a fortune, either. Because the vehicle's components are either standard "off the shelf" hardware or available as reasonably priced military surplus, the conversion to "hybrid drive" only set Dave back about $1,500. By the same token, any necessary replacement parts are easily obtainable . . . and a good deal of the equipment can be "scrounged" rather than purchased new.
HOW IT WORKS

In essence, David has utilized a small gas lawn-mower engine to drive a generator, which-in turn-supplies the vehicle's drive motor with electricity. To do so, he first removed the Opel's original power-plant and installed a 400-amp DC motor/ generator (actually a jet engine's starting motor) in its place. (Since there's no need for a clutch in Dave's setup, the stock unit was pulled out and the main shaft of the drive motor was fastened directly to the input shaft of the car's transmission.) Then, to provide a consistent source of power for this motor (and to supply an energy storage bank), the engineer installed four 12-volt, heavy-duty automobile batteries-in series-which are "fed" by a 100-amp generator that's run off a 5-horsepower lawn-mower engine.

Of course, other components (such as relays, charging diodes, rectifiers, and an additional motor speed regulation circuit) are necessary to keep input and output power within optimum limits-and to allow full control of the vehicle at all speeds-but these are standard electrical parts which have been available for years.

The engine-driven generator can handle the demand from the main motor up to speeds of about 50 miles per hour. The "stored" energy in the batteries comes into play at higher velocities, giving extra kick for passing and climbing hills. To guarantee that the charging system isn't overworked . . . Dave has rigged up a regenerative braking circuit which- in effect-turns the drive motor into a generator, to feed the batteries when the vehicle is decelerating. (This not only takes advantage of normally wasted energy, but also saves wear and tear on the car's conventional braking system.) Since the Opel's "stock" cooling apparatus has been removed, two small thermostatically controlled electric fans provide ventilation to the motor and generator as required ... while the gasoline engine is, of course, air-cooled by design.
GROWING PAINS

Any project fresh off the drawing board has its share of problems, and the Opel hybrid was no exception. When David pressed the accelerator for the first time, he got a 300-amp surge which melted his relays. So he searched his graduate texts for the answer ... and finally found it in-of all places-an old high school physics book: A pulser was necessary to "chop" the current flow and prevent a heavy initial draw to the drive motor.

As Dave explains it, "The motor will always have full voltage and full current, but the pulser makes it 'think' the voltage and amperage are cut down to about 1/4 of what's actually available. With this gadget-which is simply a combination of a reworked car generator and an old fan motor-I can keep the draw within limits and effectively control the car's acceleration . . . without sacrificing the maximum current or voltage that's necessary for high-speed driving. I could have achieved the same results with a commercially available FCR control ... but one of those units would have cut my power slightly, and cost in the neighborhood of $800! I can build my own device for about $25, and I can fix it myself if it breaks!"
AND IT'S REALLY PRACTICAL!

Actually "piloting" the hybrid electric isn't much different from motoring in any conventional automobile. There's a slight hum from the electric motor, but the sound is certainly no more obvious than that of an internal combustion engine at speed. And-unlike many electric vehicles-the little Opel' really has some get-up-and-go . . . due to the fact that the converted car is only about 50 pounds heavier than its original 2,100-pound weight.

Of course, some folks will question the idea of shifting without a clutch . . . but with the fully synchronized gearbox-this doesn't prove to be a problem at all (and the motor could be run through a conventional clutch with few complications).

As far as the driving range is concerned, Dave points out that-if driven carefully the car can travel unlimited distances (as long as the generator engine continues to function) . . . because of the fact that the motor has a low draw at cruising speeds: only .23 amps at 1,800 RPM. Since the Briggs & Stratton engine turns at a fixed rate and can generate 100 amps at about 28-1/2 volts, normal driving presents no problem. Hot or traveling in a very mountainous area-could, however, tax the car's charging system . . . but even these demands don't pose much of a problem, because the batteries can be brought from a 1/4 charge (the effective "dead" state, with a built-in safety factor) to a full charge in only 15 minutes.

David Arthurs' electric Opel sounds almost too good to believe . . . and best of all, its circuitry can probably be adapted to just about any vehicle on the road today! It is true that small, lightweight cars are more easily "hybridized", but this same system will also work in a heavier auto . . . it could even be upscaled to suit one of the large American models.

In short, Dave has succeeded in doing-for a lot less money-what countless government-funded researchers have failed to accomplish: building a passenger car that uses a minimum of energy. Now all he has to do is burn "homegrown" alcohol fuel in his generator engine . . . and Mr. Arthurs will have the most economical set of wheels in town!

EDITOR'S NOTE: If you're discovering that you can't keep up with the high price of gasoline-and are willing to do something about it-you'll be pleased to know that MOTHER has made some special arrangements with David Arthurs. A set of detailed, easily understood plans will soon be available that will allow the average "backyard mechanic" to convert a conventionally powered automobile to hybrid electric drive. MOTHER's plans package includes schematic drawings, a components list-complete with manufacturers' names and part numbers-and a materials list . . . all put together in a fully explained, easy-to-follow packet. just send your name and address-along with $15.00-to Mother's., Plans, Hybrid Electric Car, P.O.

Issue # 65 - September/October 1980

In response to the many requests we've received for additional experimental auto information, here's...

Mother's Own Hybrid Car!
FAR ABOVE, LEFT: The Subaru's "engine room" now accommodates the main drive motor, several batteries, and various system controls. ABOVE, LEFT: The engine and generator fit comfortably in the trunk. ABOVE, RIGHT: MOM's hybrid hits the road!

A little over a year ago we published an article (written by contributor Robert Marshall) that described an experimental hybrid electric automobile designed and built by an Arkansas electrical engineer named David Arthurs (see MOTHER NO. 58, page 160). In that piece, it was reported that Arthurs' vehicle (which used an on-board internal-combustion generator engine to provide "juice" to a battery bank, which—in turn—fed the car's electric drive motor) could not only travel 75 miles on a gallon of fuel, but had been converted to hybrid electric mode using just $1,500 worth of (mostly) government surplus parts!

We also, at that time, made arrangements with Mr. Arthurs to produce under his careful eye—and to offer through the magazine—a set of plans detailing the procedures and parts used by the engineer in his automotive conversion.

As a result of David's continued testing, suggestions from readers, and our own research . . . we soon discovered that the original magazine article was general enough to allow for some misconception. Furthermore, David pointed out—before we began work on the plans—that there were several technical errors in the original interviews.

Considering these facts (and always bearing in mind that Dave's car was truly experimental, and that it was constantly undergoing design changes aimed at making it better), we all went out of our way to detail the jointly prepared plans that followed the original article . . . so that anyone attempting to build a hybrid vehicle could follow those instructions to determine—right from the start—exactly what components would be necessary for the car's successful operation, and could then "custom fit" the design (according to the plans) to suit his or her particular vehicle, terrain, and range requirements.

However, a few folks (some of whom hadn't purchased plans and others who had and were seeking extra assistance) were still hungry for more hybrid data . . . and continued to call MOTHER and David, looking for tips. Now Mr. Arthurs has a full-time electronics business to tend to, and he simply wasn't able to conduct his regular research program, keep his business going, and answer the technical questions that came in.

So we here at MOTHER decided to build our own version of the Arkansan's prototype—using the plans we had prepared with David's help to do so—in order to be able to answer, from the authority of firsthand experience, the many hybrid-related queries that came up.

MOTHER BUILDS HER OWN

For a good many months now, MOM's researchers have been conducting exhaustive tests—and compiling valuable data—on several different hybrid car versions . . . finally settling on a vehicle based upon a 1973 Subaru sedan for our "test unit". And despite the extremely mountainous terrain typical of our western North Carolina home (hills and hotrodding, as was explained in the original article and in the plans, can drastically reduce the effectiveness of a hybrid's charging and propulsion system), the vehicle performs well. In fact, we're so pleased with the car that we decided to report exactly what our hybrid has accomplished so far, and how we were able to make it achieve such results!

As you read the following figures, keep in mind that our economy and performance tests were all done under actual road conditions . . . unfavorable though those conditions often were. At no time did we estimate or extrapolate range or mileage, or otherwise simulate any kind of driving condition. In short, we stuck to a straightforward, in-use analysis that was even more realistic than that used in the government's EPA mileage tests!

Probably the first two questions anyone would want to ask about the experimental hybrid's performance relate to its fuel economy and range. Such considerations are, of course, directly influenced by [1] the choice of engine used to turn the charging generator, [2] the total weight of the car, and [3] the terrain and driving conditions the auto encounters. As explained in the plans package, the lighter the original vehicle, the more effective the hybrid electric (a term which, of course, refers to the fact that the batteries and the liquid-fueled engine work in combination) will be. Because of that fact, the plans suggest that anyone intending to build a hybrid first select the lightest chassis available . . . then go ahead and set it up as a strictly electric vehicle, and make test runs to determine current draws for that car. Armed with such relevant information, a builder would then be equipped to make the best possible choice of engines ... based upon horsepower, torque, and fuel consumption at a given RPM.

In our case, the Subaru had a total weight—with batteries and 200 amp generating system on board—of approximately 3,000 pounds. Because of our area's terrain (which, as noted above, increases amperage draws considerably over what they might be during operation in a more level area), we found it necessary to add, as per the plans, six extra six-volt batteries . . . to provide additional storage capability. Our prescribed "electric only" testing then determined that we needed—again because of the steep up-and-down grades of most of our roads—an engine with a continuous rating (DIN) horsepower of about 9. For insurance, we finally settled on a plans—recommended 12.5 (DIN) horsepower Lombardini 720 diesel . . . and then set the impressive little powerplant to run at midrange, at which point it produced approximately the 9 horsepower our auto required.

(Although David Arthurs' original 5-horsepower gasoline engine certainly did add to the range of his battery pack—and thus effectively "hybridize" his vehicle—over the comparatively flat Arkansas roads . . . such an engine would not have extended our hybrid's range enough beyond that of the batteries alone to justify its use.)

Further testing enabled us to decide upon another "best choice" . . . this in the area of motor controls. Our experience with the "chopper" used by Dave on his prototype Opel hybrid indicated that the system might have a limited lifetime as a result of the sometimes extreme currents that passed through its brushes while in operation. So we read through the alternatives presented in the plans and—rather than fall back on a cost-prohibitive Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) control—chose to utilize a voltage tap system to the field, rather than to the armature, to regulate the main motor's starting torque while still keeping the current passing through the control down to a comfortable 10 amps or so.

By doing this, not only have we installed an inexpensive, so-far-effective regulating device (our system provides a progressive "stepping down" of field voltage from 30 to 18 to 6, governed by microswitches and operated by depressing the accelerator pedal), but we've also eliminated the need for all the car's high-amperage, high-cost relays . . . except the 400-amp main motor relay! (Our research now indicates that a two-step setup—30/24-volt—may be more practical and would provide more economy.)

As another point of interest—especially for the convenience-minded—we found that, although it's quite possible to operate the hybrid without a clutch (as we did over the course of many hours of testing), the car's drivability is increased by installing one of the mechanical uncoupling devices. A clutch probably extends the life of the transmission gears and synchronizers, and also allows the removal of a reactor from the wiring circuit . . . a component which is nothing more than an electrical "shock absorber" used to control high voltage surges when no clutch is employed.
Here's an unexpected bonus that resulted from our hybrid car research!

Mother's 129-MPG Car!

Between testing and improving the various hybrid electric car models, MOTHER's researchers have—as you can imagine—had plenty to keep them occupied over the past months. But they weren't too busy to devote time to another project that's something of a "horse of a different color": the design and construction—from the ground up—of a two-passenger, ultra-high-mileage diesel automobile.

If there's one thing we've learned from working with the hybrid car, it's that reduced weight is a key factor in achieving increased fuel economy. Our goal, then, was to build a machine which weighed no more than 900 pounds ... and we ended up doing even better than we'd hoped!

Motive power for our lightweight creation comes from a one-cyciinder, 6.4 (DIN continuous rating) horsepower Lombardini diesel engine, driven through a set of Salisbury clutches that allow for an infinitely variable gear ratio, governed by load. Final drive is at a fuel-saving 2.82-to-1 ratio, using a chain and sprocket system connected to the axle of the right rear wheel.

MOTHER's roadster, in its present configuration, weighs in at just about 675 pounds . . . a figure we never imagined—several months ago—we'd be able to achieve. However, surprised as we were at the lightness of the machine, the real shock was the car's mileage: At this point, with the engine still as yet not broken in, we're getting as high as 129 miles per gallon in actual suburban driving . . . and we hope to improve that figure—and the vehicle's approximately 45-MPH top speed—as time goes on.

Right now, though, we're working on body design, and—although the increased weight of a "shell" will add a few unwanted pounds—its wind-cutting configuration (not to mention the convenience and comfort it will provide to the driver and passenger) should completely offset any such disadvantages. We'll keep you posted on the developments of this project as they occur . . . in'the meantime, maybe we'll do some economy testing using vegetable oil as fuel!

THE PROOF IS IN THE TESTING

Once our Subaru was set up as described . . . and we had installed our final engine choice, which was still "tight" with only three hours on it ( the break-in time is from 30 to 50 hours), we achieved more than satisfying "mountain driving" results. With a fully charged battery pack and carrying 300 pounds of driver and passenger (anal running with open windows, stock tires, and various other "handicaps" not usually associated with high-mileage tests), the fuel economy over the course of our 78-mile test run (with help from the battery pack) worked out to 83.6 miles per gallon. of diesel fuel. The car's top cruising speed on level ground—in its 30-volt configuration—proved to be about 45 MPH . . . although we did hit 55 MPH on a slight downhill stretch.

With the driver controlling the speed of the diesel generator engine, and trying to keep current draws below 200 amps whenever possible by shifting gears (and using the accelerator to vary field voltage) when necessary, the diesel engine—doing its "hybrid job"—more than doubled the range that would have been possible with the batteries alone! (And, of course, when the two separate "fuel systems" worked together, we achieved our best economy figures.)

Furthermore, even with the battery pack fully drained and disconnected, we found it possible to motor along at a speed of 45 miles per hour on the generator engine alone. Under engine-only operation, we were still able to achieve 60.5 MPG . . . a figure which could increase by as much as 20% after the Lombardini breaks in.

What all these numbers boil down to is this: When the car is operated in the hybrid mode (using both batteries and engine as it was designed to do), it's possible to achieve astounding fuel economy over a more than reasonable commuting distance. Any driving done beyond the 78-mile hybrid range would—in our vehicle under our test conditions—be at the expense of such excellent MPG figures . . . though the numbers wouldn't ever drop to quite as "low" as the 60 (plus) MPG possible using the generator engine alone. And, of course, as long as there's fuel in the on-board diesel, the car's total range is unlimited.

BUT THERE ARE SOME LIMITATIONS

The figures achieved during our testing vary from those that Robert Marshall reported were "racked up" by David Arthurs' original hybrid some months ago. Several of the discrepancies can likely be attributed to the differences in vehicles and propulsion system configurations, and others to the inequality of terrain involved. But there were several points made in that article that were inaccurate (as folks who ordered the plans, in which the errors were corrected, already know), owing to the fact that David's vehicle was then experimental and still under initial—and at times necessarily somewhat crude—testing.

For one thing, it was reported in the original piece that Mr. Arthurs' drive motor had current draws of 23 amps at 1,800 RPM. In reality, the motors that we bench-tested at 30 volts had free-running draws of about 40 amps at 4,800 RPM . . . which—under load on the highway at 30 volts—increased to 100-150 amps on level ground at 30 miles per hour, with the car in third gear.

Another point that needs some clarification is the statement, made in the article, that Arthurs' engine-driven generator could handle the demand from the main motor at speeds of up to 50 MPH, after which the energy in the batteries came into play. Our testing so far indicates that the generator, without the "hybrid" boost provided by the storage pack, is capable of propelling the car at around only 45 MPH and—at that velocity—doesn't produce enough surplus to significantly charge the battery bank.

Which brings us to another point concerning performance of the vehicle: Dave's original car was set up to use a 24/48-volt system (an option emphasized in the plans) . . . in other words, the auto could be switched to the higher voltage to achieve greater speeds for passing and such. Making a switch to "48", however, increases amperage draws drastically (causing a corresponding reduction in the vehicle's range), and—since the batteries can't be charged at 48 volts—continuous travel at such speeds would be impossible. (Furthermore, though it was reported that Dave's speedometer registered 90 MPH on a gradual downhill grade, we feel that the drive motor would have had to be fed yet more voltage—at least on level ground—to achieve such an admittedly excessive speed.)

The capability—mentioned in the original article—of using the on-board generator to charge the stationary vehicle in a short time, is another matter that deserves attention. According to Dave's gauges, his original hybrid Opel's batteries could be brought from 1/4 strength to a full charge in 15 minutes. This has proven to be a misleading reading, however. The meters were, we have found, actually indicating only a full surface charge (which wouldn't be able to power the car for long). In reality, the best way to renew the battery pack is by "trickle charging" . . . feeding the current at a rate of about 25 amps over a period of approximately 10 hours.

DOLLARS AND CENTS

The cost figures for the project, as David Arthurs itemized them, were absolutely accurate. However, the prices reflect costs as they stood more than two years ago, and inflation has since then taken its toll. What's more, the law of supply and demand—especially in the case of some of the limited-availability government surplus parts—has driven the cost of certain components (such as the 400-amp starter generator) up to triple what it was back then!

Fortunately, with a straight "one-voltage" system—as used by MOTHER's car—some of the high-amperage relays can be eliminated and much money saved. However, anyone starting to build a hybrid today should know that the possible need for more batteries and/or a larger engine (such as our fuel-economical diesel), coupled with future changes in price and availability of government surplus components, could add a good bit to the cost of the total project. (It would probably now be a good idea to check with surplus suppliers to determine the size of their parts inventories before embarking on the project.)

MOTHER's researchers intend to finish testing our hybrid car—and to monitor the continuing research conducted by David Arthurs—and we'll report any breakthroughs as they occur. We're also interested in a related project: By replacing the generating assembly with batteries, we hope to achieve an "electric" range of 60 miles, without the noise and pollution that are unavoidable when using any internal combustion engine!

Considering that the cost of "plug-in" energy for the hybrid car is under 2.5¢ per mile (based upon our area's rate of approximately 4¢ per kilowatt-hour), such a vehicle should prove very attractive . . . especially in light of the fact that the average American car consumes fuel at a rate of more than 6¢ per mile!

And more news for our fellow experimental car enthusiasts: The DOE recently awarded General Electric an $8 million contract to develop two hybrid prototypes that—it's hoped—will use a "whopping" 5% less total energy than today's Detroit products. With that kind of money, it shouldn't be long before Big Industry reaches the point where Dave Arthurs was two years ago!

EDITOR'S NOTE: Those who'd like to use their already purchased plans to build MOTHER's experimental version of the hybrid car can get free update information by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Mother's Plans, Hybrid Car Update, P.O. Box A, East Flat Rock, North Carolina 28726.

"New Energy Solutions and Implications For The National Security and The Environment":

The ultimate national security issue is intimately linked to the pressing environmental crisis facing the world today: The question of whether humanity can continue as a technologically advanced civilization.

Fossil fuels and the internal combustion engine are non-sustainable both environmentally and economically -and a replacement for both already exists. The question is not whether we will transition to a new post-fossil fuel economy, but when and how. The environmental, economic, geopolitical, national security, and military issues related to this matter are profound and inextricably linked to one another.

The disclosure of such new energy technologies will have far-reaching impli- cations for every aspect of human society and the time has come to prepare for such an event. For if such technologies were announced today, it would take at least 10- 20 years for their widespread application to be effected. This is approximately how much time we have before global economic chaos begins due to demand far exceeding the supply of oil and environmental decay becomes exponential and cat- astrophic.
We have found that the technologies to replace fossil fuel usage already exist and need to be exploited and applied immediately to avert a serious global eco- nomic, geopolitical, and environmental crisis in the not-so-distant future.

In summary, these technologies fall into the following broad categories:

> Quantum vacuum/ zero point field energy access systems and related advances in electromagnetic theory and applications

> Electrogravitic and magnetogravitic energy and propulsion. Room temperature nuclear effects

> Electrochemical and related advances to internal combustion systems which achieve near zero emissions and very high efficiency

A number of practical applications using such technologies have been developed over the past several decades but such breakthroughs have been either ignored due to their unconventional nature or have been classified and suppressed due to national security, military interests, and 'special' interests.
Let us be clear: the question is not whether such systems exist and can be viable replacements for fossil fuels. The question is whether we have the courage to allow such a transformation in world society to occur.

Such technologies -especially those which bypass the need to use an external fuel source such as oil or coal -would have obvious and beneficial effects for humanity. Since these technologies do not require an expensive source of fuel but instead use existing quantum space energy, a revolution in the world's economic and social order would result. These implications include:

> The removal of all sources of air pollution related to energy generation, including electric power plants, cars, trucks, aircraft and manufacturing.

> The ability to 'scrub' to near zero effluent all manufacturing processes since the energy per se required for same would have no cost related to fuel consumption. This would allow the full application of technologies which remove effluent from smokestacks, solid waste, and waterways since current applications are generally restricted by their energy costs and the fact that such energy consumption -being fossil fuel based -soon reaches the point of diminishing returns environmentally.

> The practical achievement of an environmentally near-zero impact yet high tech civilization on earth, thus assuring the long-term sustainability of human civilization.

> Trillions of dollars now spent on electric power generation, gas, oil, coal and nuclear power would be freed to be spent on more productive and environmentally neutral endeavors by both individuals and society as a whole.

> Underdeveloped regions of the earth would be lifted out of poverty and into a high technology world in about a generation -but without the associated infra- structure costs and environmental impact related to traditional energy generation and propulsion. Since these new systems generate energy from the ambient quantum energy state, trillion dollar infrastructure investments in centralized power generation and distribution would be eliminated. Remote villages and towns would have the ability to generate energy for manufacturing, electrifica- tion, water purification etc without purchasing fuels or building massive transmission lines and central power grids.

> Near total recycling of resources and materials would be possible since the energy costs for doing so -now the main obstacle -would be brought down to a trivial level.

> The vast disparity between rich and poor nations would quickly disappear -and with it much of the zero-sum-game mentality which is at the root of so much social, political, and international unrest. In a world of abundant and inexpensive energy, many of the pressures which have led to a cycle of poverty, exploitation, resentment, and violence would be removed from the social dynamic. While ideological, cultural and religious differences would persist, the raw eco- nomic disparity and struggle would be removed from the equation fairly quickly.

> Surface roads and therefore most road building-will be unnecessary as electrogravitic antigravity energy and propulsion systems replace current surface transportation systems.

> The world economy would expand dramatically and those advanced economies such as in the US and Europe would benefit tremendously as global trade, development and high technology energy and propulsion devices are demanded around the world. Such a global energy revolution would create an expanding world economy which would make the current computer and Internet economy look like a rounding error. This really would be the tide which would lift all ships.

> Long term, society would evolve to a psychology of abundance, which would redound to the benefit of humanity as a whole, a peaceful civilization and a society focused increasingly on creative pursuits rather than destructive and violent endeavors.

Lest all of this sound like a pipe dream, keep in mind that such technological advances are not only possible, but they already exist. What is lacking is the collective will, creativity and courage to see that they are applied wisely. And therein lies the problem.
As an emergency and trauma doctor, I know that everything can be used for good or for ill. A knife can butrer your bread -or cut your throat. Every technology can have beneficial as well as harmful applications.

The latter partially explains the serious national security and military concerns with such technologies. For many decades, these advances in energy and propulsion technologies have been acquired, suppressed and classified by certain interests who have viewed them as a threat to our security from both an economic and military perspective. In the short term, these concerns have been well-founded: Why rock the global economic boat by allowing technologies out which would, effec- tively, terminate the multi-trillion dollar oil, gas, coal, internal combustion engine and related transponation sectors of the economy? And which could also unleash such technologies on an unstable and dangerous world where the weapons appli- cations for such technological breakthroughs would be a cenainty? In the light of this, the status quo looks good. But only for the short term. In fact, such national security and military policies -fed by huge special interests in obvious industries and nations -have exacerbated global geopolitical tensions by impoverishing much of the world, worsening the zero-sum-game mind set of the rich versus poor nations and brought us to a world energy emergency and a pending environmental crisis. And now we have very little time to fix the situation. Such thinking must be relegated to the past.
For what can be a greater threat to the national security than the specter of a collapse of our entire civilization from a lack of energy and global chaos as every nation fights for its share of a limited resource? Due to the long lead time needed to transform the current industrial infrastructure away from fossil fuels, we are facing a national security emergency which almost nobody is talking about. This is dangerous.

It has also created a serious constitutional crisis in the US and other countries where non-representative entities and super-secret projects within compartmented military and corporate areas have begun to set national and international policy on this and related matters -all outside the arena of public debate, and mostly with out informed consent from Congress or the President.
Indeed this crisis is undermining democracy in the US and elsewhere. I have had the unenviable task of personally briefing senior political, military, and intelligence officials in the US and Europe on this and related matters. These officials have been denied access to information companmented within cenain projects which are, frankly, unacknowledged areas (so-called 'black' projects). Such officials include members of the House and Senate, President Clinton's first Director of Central Intelligence, the head of the DIA, senior Joint Staff officials and others. Usually, the officials have little to no information on such projects and technologies -and are told either nothing or that they do not have a 'need to know' if they specifically inquire.

This presents then another problem: these technologies will not be suppressed forever. For example, our group is planning a near term disclosure of such technologies and we will not be silenced. At the time of such a disclosure, will the US government be prepared? It would behoove the US government and others to be informed and have a plan for transitioning our society from fossil fuels to these new energy and propulsion systems. Indeed, the great danger is ignorance by our leaders of these scientific break- throughs -and ignorance of how to manage their disclosure. The advanced countries of the world must be prepared to put systems in place to assure the exclusive peaceful use of such energy and propulsion advances. Economic and industrial interests should be prepared so that those aspects of our economy which will be adversely affected (commodities, oil, gas, coal, public utilities, engine manufactur- ing, etc) can be cushioned from sudden reversals and be economically 'hedged' by investing in and supponing the new energy infrastructure.

A creative view of the future -not fear and suppression of such technologies - is required. And it is needed immediately. If we wait 10-20 more years, it will be too late to make the needed changes before world oil shortages, exorbitant costs and geopolitical competition for resources causes a melt-down in the world's economy and political structures.

All systems tend towards homeostasis. The status quo is comfonable and secure. Change is frightening. But in this case, the most dangerous course for the national security is inaction. We must be prepared for the coming convulsions related to energy shonages, spiraling costs and economic disruption. The best preparation would be a replacement for oil and related fossil fuels. And we have it. But disclosing these new energy systems carries its own set of benefits, risks and challenges. The US government and the Congress must be prepared to wisely manage this great challenge.

Recommendations for Congress:

> Thoroughly investigate these new technologies both from current civilian sources as well as compartmented projects within military, intelligence and corporate contracting areas.

> Authorize the declassification and release of information held within compartmented projects related to this subject.

> Specifically prohibit the seizing or suppression of such technologies.

> Authorize substantial funding for basic research and development by civilian scientists and technologists into these areas.

> Develop plans for dealing with disclosing such technologies and for the transition to a non-fossil fuel economy. These plans should include: military and national security planning; strategic economic planning and preparation; private sector suppon and cooperation; geopolitical planning, especially as it pertains to OPEC countries and regions whose economies are very dependent on oil expons and the price of oil; international cooperation and security; among others.

I personally stand ready to assist the Congress in any way possible to facilitate our use of these new energy sources. Having dealt with this and related sensitive matters for over 10 years, I can recommend a number of individuals who can be subpoenaed to provide testimony on such technologies, as well as people who have information on Unacknowledged Special Access Projects within coven government operations which are already dealing with these issues.

If we face these challenges with courage and with wisdom together, we can ecure for our children a new and sustainable world, free of poverty and environmental destruction. We will be up to this challenge because we must be.

Unlike the Segway, which was a solution looking for a problem in my book, this is something people can actually use: 62mph top speed. 0-50 in 6.8sec. Up to 70 miles on 34 ¢of electricity.
I'm posting because if more people knew this kind of product is possible, people would demand it …and manufacturers would have to respond. The alternative-energy movement needs people like us to share this sort of news outside of the mainstream media.
Vectrix is accepting pre-launch reservations for this bike on its website. I've been told that the US is considered to be a minor market relative to those in Europe, and I'm afraid that if we don't voice our support we won ’t see enough product allocated here to make a difference.

First, for perspective, the next paragraph is the important part of world history in a single paragraph. Then, I hope to enlist you in joining the Aikido Activism Movement, a movement that can face today ’s deepest challenges with the most empowered approach to change.

THE IMPORTANT PART OF WORLD HISTORY IN A PARAGRAPH
Humanity has passed from a first great era of primarily physically-mediated conflict to one today of primarily economically-mediated conflict (see for example, Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, by John Perkins - http://www.tinyurl.com/4tebc or http://www.tinyurl.com/5t8j9 ) and NOW we can and must advance to an era of primarily reason-mediated conflict. In each of the earlier eras people by and large did the best they could with what they had (as they will today and in the future only now with much better tools for communication which MUST be used for increased understanding, which -- fortunately -- can naturally translate to caring). The problem of capitalism today was less a problem when it was invented as a solution to feudal imperialism (with regular physical conflict). Economic imperialism has yet further removed the suffering from view of the beneficiaries of economic imperialism; but, in order to link with economic subjects, a global network has been built that can actually be used to bring people together -- and while inter-tribal, international, and intercorporate engagements in ages of primarily physically-mediated and primarily economically-mediated conflict have a history of being quite exploitive (if not deadly), engagements in the dawning age of reason can evolve to be much more like a dance, yet still a dance of joy or survival depending on one's viewpoint. The key should be seeing the power of inclusion, which can bring joy and unity -- replacing profit maximization with fruition maximization as a necessity for sustainability/survival and joy in a globalizing era.

My passions have been channeled into writing about a systematic solution to this systemic problem of today: that corporations do both the most good and the most bad, but it is their ability to hide bad things in the complexity of corporate behavior and in the popular but treacherous myth they promulgate -- "greed is good" -- that has led to essentially all major world problems.

Efforts to overpower corporations with grass roots public fervor or death-of-their-excesses by a thousand cuts from non-profits or NGOs appear to be having little effect, so why not turn the tools of corporations (and their economic might) against their regressive practices? This is Aikido Activism, my passion that I hope will become yours in a budding movement that everyone should want to join - and that anyone and everyone with a computer and Internet access is empowered to advance by sharing parts of the puzzle (how Aikido Activism can be applied in their field and applying it), supporting other Aikido Activists, getting the word out electronically, etc.

Change is possible. Find out who some Aikido Activists are who are working for progressive transformation of outworn social traditions –and please share any comments, ideas, connections, at the new wiki-website http://aikidoactivism.xwiki.com/ where there is a growing amount of information begun to be collected and organized online to advance the Aikido Progressive Movement – to understand our past and build a promising opportunity for our future.

My name is Alex Goodman and I am a graduate student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Florida. I sure would appreciate any and all help with generating this list, as one person can only know so many people and ideas. Some examples I am currently using would be cohousing, community supported agriculture, and the local currency/bartering networks. I know there are tons more out there!

THis is kind of long and it may look like alot but the beginning project isn't really hard at all.

Hey folks. I am putting this out on many different tribes post to invite as many people over as possible.
If it doesn't seem as if it is on topic (it's community building and political) with your tribe I apologize. I'm sending it where I think the people that will be interested might go.

The tribe is called Renaissance Farms and the idea behind it is to get people connected. We have let too many politicians and corporate types run things for too long. I wasn't a big Dean supporter but it shows what you can do with the internet and a little imagination.

I am going to use this tribe and a website that I am currently working on to try and connect a LARGE group of like minded people together. I had originally said that this was for people from the the " Left to FAR Left, Libertarian, Progressives, Dems and Open Minded Republicans (yes they do exist)" although all views are welcome as long as they aren't hateful. (All that really maters is that you have a mind open to what is possible, which is anything. Oh yeah. The no Hateful still applies) It is about taking back some of the economic power.. The idea is to to keep the money within the group(or demographic or tribe or among people that vote similiarly or whatever you want to call it).. I am going to set up a website for the state of Ohio that will be a kind of directory of liberal links and businesses that are owned by people with a more left leaning attitude. Yes that is a divisive and partisan way to set something up but I have found that people on the left are more likely to give "experiments" and "crazy projects" a chance. If you have a different opinion i'd be glad to hear it. I've already been called on it by one person and learned something new.

A good example is that say you were going to donate money to a political campaign. Then there was storm and a tree fell through your roof. So now that money needs to go to fix your roof. If you go through a service provider that has similar political beliefs then it is possible that some of that money may still go to the same causes that you support. It is just closing up the system to a degree. .(Yes we already have some sites like these but I have not found any that are anywhere comprehensive enough)

There are an endless number of organizations and businesses in each state but they have never been put into one place. So I will get numbers and contact info from people like Stonewall and environmental groups, Unitarian churches, NPR affiliates and other organizations (Political Orgs-Dems, Green, Libertarian, do Anarchists organize???) and every kind of business that I can think of. The GLBT community has the Lavender pages (some are the Pink pages). Same concept. So now I need to start compiling a list of these groups and places. If you know any please start a list and pass it on and I will make contact to get all of the necessary info. It will take some time to get a comprehensive site going but I will keep the members of Renaissance Farms notified of progress as I go. I have posted to see if there are people in other Ohio cities that can help. Then once it is up and running it can be a place for people to find service providers and organizations. Then we can create sites for other states and group them together under one site. Make connections. And eventually it can be more. One importatnt thing will be the quality of the markeing blitz that we put out.(no not superbowl ads or even what Moveon.org does) We can use conventional marketing to get the word out. Things like the Alternative Papers. Booths at festivals and Bumperstickers. It's drive with which it is done that matters.

How many people do you know that are trying to run painting companies or freelance web design so that they can control their time and spend more with their families? How often would one sale make the difference between their staying in business or not. The stronger each individual is the stronger the whole. If a person has more time, money and less stress then there is a better chance that they will work to improve their community and world. I would prefer to give them my business than give it to someone that I have no connection with. We have to take care of each other just as the Conservatives have. Ours can be a community with all ethnicities and creeds, orientations and leanings. All that matters is an open mind. And the stronger each individual is in the community the stronger the community.

If you know anyone else that might be interested then pass along the info. The bigger it gets the more power it will have to change things and educate people (humanities, arts, history, even business and economics). THe more we all know and know about each other the better.

My goal right now is actually very simple. We just need add a few names of organizations a week to our local lists and then hopefully it will snowball. If we can get these lists going then maybe we can get other projects going along side of it. Like getting the business people on the list to get involved with mentoring kids. Encourage them to work on the creative side but also give them the tools to manage money and time so that they can make the most of life. I have a friend who is an artist and does go to the gatherings. She is great with money. She has been a perpetual student and a river guide and a nanny in London. But being able to manage her life gives her more time and possiblities for growth. The right wing cares mainly about wealth so that managing money is the main thing that they care about. People on the left care more about quality of life and experience. About creativity and imagination. We need to continue on with our strengths and improve our skills at managing things like money and time. Not trying to turn anyone into a republican. Just giving us the ability to do more of the things that are important to us. Less stress and more money can be achieved (or at least greatly helped along) by learning to manage our lives and time and fianances better. I work two jobs right now to pay off past excesses. If I had more time I could be campaigning for someone to beat dum dum. I will slowly do what I can. If you know anyone that is fed up with the way things are then please send them to Renaissance Farms. I will work with anyone who wants to help. All that we need to do tight now is to compile names addresses, numbers, email etc... for organizations and companies that are open minded. Most will be left leaning but you never know. We will surely miss things if we only hear one side of the argument. Open minds and imaginations are the important things.
I will have example contact form layouts on the Ren Farms tribe by tomorrow.

Peace.

I have decided to start my own tribe for people to come and learn to implement sustainable local protein food production methods. I named it Grow Your Own. I intend to use this tool to promote sustainable land based aquaculture as solution to corporate controlled food sources, as solution to strip mining our oceans, as solution to contaminated food, and as solution to environmental damage done by conventional protein production and harvesting. This tribe is being created to challenge as many consumers as I can to put your money where your mouth is, take control and make a change. "Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach him to (grow) fish; he eats for a life time."

This method is adaptable for an individual, a community, a co-housing development, for soup kitchens, alongside community gardens and greenhouses etc. We have also found it to be economically sustaining.

The main goal here, of course, is to get ~ the ~ clean ~ fish ~ on ~ the ~ market. If it’s not made available than consumers have no option accept to stop eating fish period. And are they really going to do THAT? And how many need to make that choice to impact a change? And that's ~just ~fish. What it takes to impact water conservation, pollution, environmental damage, even wasted land raising cattle and pig and all the damage continuously done doing THAT protein food production. Gotta make available a better alternative.

We are located in Maine and have a fish farm ourselves. We believe strongly that anyone concerned with health, environment, sustainability, ecology, corporate control, local food production, and local economies and the communities effected, as well as water conservation and land conservation should take a real good look at this solution. I invite you to participate. Hello.
